Amatitlán Rock Climbing — 1 Day Tour

A full day of climbing on the walls above the gorgeous Lake Amatitlán, the closest sport climbing to Guatemala City and Antigua. After a short approach through the jungle you're faced with spectacular views of the nearby Agua and Pacaya volcanos, framed by the shimmering emerald-green lake below you.

The Climbing

The walls above the lake hold routes for every level, so the day works whether you have never tied in before or you are hunting a challenge. Mostly technical single pitch routes, with lots of crimpy face climbing.

Rafa sets the pace around the group: full instruction and plenty of encouragement for first-timers, lap after lap for climbers chasing mileage.

The Day

Rafa picks you up at your accommodation in Guatemala City or Antigua. After a short approach through the jungle you reach the walls, with the Agua and Pacaya volcanos on the horizon and the emerald-green lake below.

The full day runs about 8 hours door-to-door. Bring water, snacks, and sun protection — every piece of climbing gear is already packed for you.

Tour 02 · Quetzaltenango (Xela)

Cerro Quemado — 1 Day Climbing Trip (Quetzaltenango)

Climbing on the volcanic rock at Cerro Quemado, outside Quetzaltenango (Xela). Expect a lengthy approach up the sharp, rugged terrain formed from past volcanic eruptions. A sacred site for locals, this unique crag high in the sky is home to some of the best climbing in Guatemala.

The Climbing

Cerro Quemado is sharp, featured volcanic stone with routes for every level — a quieter crag where you will often have the walls to yourselves. At 3,197 meters the air is thin, and the highland views stretch across the valley of Quetzaltenango.

The Day

Pickup is at your accommodation in Xela. The approach is a real part of the experience: a lengthy hike up rugged terrain formed by past eruptions, gaining the crag high above the city.

Cerro Quemado is a sacred site for local Maya communities — ceremonies happen on the mountain, and Rafa guides here with respect for the people who hold it sacred.
